Patrick & Kelsey. La Jolla Estancia & Scripps Seaside Forum Wedding

Patrick & Kelsey’s wedding blew us away. They combined two of our favorite venues (Estancia La Jolla & Scripps Seaside Forum) for their special day and really made it their own. The personal touches were so well thought out – our favorite example was the theme centered around Edward Sharp & the Magnetic Zero’s song, ‘Home’ – all of the reception details were based off the lyrics of that song. So fun! Oh, and as a surfer, Patrick just had to have a local band play a lot of his favorite surf music as guests arrived at the venue. And yes, we loved how their fashions, personalities, backdrops, and light all came together for some amazing portraits (you’ll notice we included A LOT of portraits in this post!). Patrick & Kelsey – to say that we loved working with you would be an understatement. Thanks so much for having us capture your special day! Note – this is a long post. Hope you make it to the end!

Ross & Brittanie’s Rustic Alpine Wedding

It seems like all of our recent blogs have started with an apology for not posting more frequently. But we’re not going to do that today. Instead, simply enjoy Ross & Brittanie’s mystically rugged Alpine wedding. It’s always a treat for us to work with people we already know as Brittanie was a bridesmaid at a very fun wedding a couple years ago. And the weather was so fun. We had a nice sunny start to the day and as the ceremony began, we were blessed with a whimsical fog that rolled in over the mountain lake setting. Oh, and we are now of the opinion that a balloon artist at a reception is one of the best ideas of all time! We hope you enjoy the photos!

These past few months have been a whirlwind of weddings, portrait sessions, constantly running after a quickly developing toddler, Emily doing a lot of eating and resting as our second child grows, but not a whole lot of blogging. For those who love regular, scheduled blogs, we do apologize – but at least we have plenty of awesome photos in store for you in the upcoming winter months! Today, we thought we’d start this off with one of our awesome August couples – Tony & Korrin! We loved their venue choices, getting ready at the Hard Rock Hotel, with their ceremony at the classic St. Joseph Cathedral, and reception at the hip Culy Warehouse. Jeff & Liza. A Rugged Costal San Diego Engagment Session!

While we love any engagement session we photograph, Brett especially loves it when we shoot in nature. It’s the outdoor-lover-tree-hugger-mountain-boy thing that runs deep in his blood. So when Jeff and Liza wanted to do their engagement session by the ocean cliffs, Brett jumped on the chance to suggest a location that he used to cycle by on a regular basis. As a bonus, Jeff and Liza were a blast to hang out with. They were inspiring as people. Liza studying hard as a med student, Jeff a teacher who protects the north coast beaches as a Lifeguard by summer. Both crazy fit, but I guess that’s what competing in marathon and IRONMAN events do to you! They make us want to get out and move. Jeff and Liza – we are thrilled to work with you and are super excited for your wedding next year. Enjoy the photos!

Alex & Caitlin’s Awesome White House Wedding. Redding, CA.

When Caitlin contacted us to photograph her wedding in Redding, California, we were thrilled. Not only did Emily know Caitlin from their involvement from The Stirring (our awesome church community in Redding), but we would know everyone from the groom’s family, the pastor, the coordinator, videographer, caterer, and a large number of the guests. That’s how things roll in a smaller city like Redding and we were so excited to head back to our old stomping grounds to see everyone come together for Alex and Caitlin’s amazing wedding at the newer White House venue. Apart from Brett getting used to the heat (and it was a cooler summer day in Redding), the entire day was magical as two wonderful families came together with the support of close friends to celebrate the marriage of these two lovebirds. Alex and Caitlin – you two are a wonderful couple and we felt so blessed to be a part of your special day. Enjoy!
