As many of you know, Brett is a bit of an outdoor enthusiast. So when we get a couple that wants their engagement photos taken in the rustic outdoors, we get a little excited around here. Ross and Brittanie were one of those couples and Brett had a perfect new location to take them to that he had found recently while mountain biking. The location was epic and a storm was brewing which made for a great moody ambiance. And then there was Ross and Brittanie who killed it with the photogenic goodness. They ran through fields, jumped over fences, relaxed on the moist ground floor, tried to avoid odd beetles and played with some awesome driftwood (ok, there was no water around, but we’re still calling it driftwood). Needless to say -we had a great time with them playing around in the great outdoors. It was also a fun little reunion for us and Brittanie as she was a bridesmaid in one of our fabulous weddings a couple years back. Ross and Brittanie – thanks for being awesome – we had a blast with you and are so excited for your wedding this fall!

So we’ve gotten the chance lately to do a bunch of maternity shoots. Of course this is a natural progression for us as many of our wedding clients decide to become parents and want to capture that special and exciting time in their lives. Today we are sharing a lifestyle maternity shoot we did for our good friends Ryan and Natalie who are expecting their first child. Nor only are we super excited for them, but we are selfishly excited because they are having a boy – and North will have a new friend! That might not sound like a big deal, but it seriously is as most of our friends have had or are having baby girls. Natalie and Ryan – we love you two and can’t wait to welcome your little one into the world!

Mark and Stephanie are practically our neighbors. We’ve probably rubbed shoulders with them several times as we both independently went about our lives. We didn’t know what we were missing by not knowing these amazing people. Now that we know them and love them, our eyes are opened to our surprisingly parallel lives. Now as we go about the daily business of life, we have new friends to share it with. Whether it’s running into each other at Sprouts Market reaching for the same orange, or getting to chat for a half hour while simultaneously getting the oil changed in our respective vehicles at the same shop, it’s a new joy in life to get to see these two outside of taking their photos. Which brings me to another point – we LOVED taking their photos. They so quickly and gracefully let us into their lives, allowing us to partake in their inside jokes (which are hilarious by the way) all the while being so natural in front of our lenses. When we shot their engagement session, we knew we were in for a treat to work with them. We had so much fun we had to force ourselves to stop pressing the shutter button. Their wedding was no different and while we are so happy that they are happily married, we are sad that we no longer have it to look forward to! Mark and Steph – we seriously love you to and hope you are enjoying traveling Europe on your honeymoon. Let’s grab dinner when you get back! Happy Thursday to all our friends in internetland! This past month has been a whirlwind with 10 out of town visitors over a span of four weeks. For those of you who live in San Diego and have family out of state, you probably know how it is with getting a lot of visitors! It’s such a blessing to be able to share all the great things of San Diego with friends and family. Shoot while we’re used to it, we’ll throw out an open invitation to anyone who wants to visit and needs a place to stay and peeps to hang out with. Our door is open to you (just give us a bit of a heads up that you are coming)! Also these past two weeks our precious son North has gained the confidence to start talking – and it’s been a blast! Although he still doesn’t really say ‘mommy’ or ‘daddy’, he’s been tackling some more difficult words like ‘strawberry’, ‘airplane’, and even ‘helicopter’. We’re having a great time testing his vocabulary and having him show off to family via Skype. It’s also such a relief to have our 2 year old finally start to talk. We’re proud parents and are tempted to list his full list of words here, but we’ll spare you!

Today we are sharing Frank and Molly’s downtown San Diego engagement shoot. We first met these two a few months ago over some great Australian wine – in honor of Frank’s home country. (yes we just spelled honor with a ‘u’ in it, also in honor of the Commonwealth. Not to mention that’s Brett’s default spelling of the word as well!) These two are an adorable couple and we don’t think they could be any better of a fit! We fell right into conversation and humor as if we had known them for years. Their sweetness and charm is irresistible making it such a treat to spend an afternoon with them. Frank and Molly – we are so excited for your wedding this summer in La Jolla. Let’s drink more wine soon, ok!? Enjoy!

We are so excited to be photographing Jamie & Melanie’s wedding this fall. After all, we watched Jamie propose to Melanie at a concert nearly 2 years ago. Seriously, they pretty much stopped the concert for him to propose in front of a large crowd of music lovers! How awesome is that? Can you imagine the dumb struck looks on our faces as we met with them listening to their engagement story as we realized that we were there and witnesses their engagement story?! Needless to say, we didn’t have to use much of our imagination to try to picture their story. It was already engrained in our memories. We had a blast shooting their engagement photos, this time making memories with them. Jamie and Melanie – thanks for all the laughs and we can’t wait to celebrate with you in October!

Nate & Kimber’s Wedding at Scripps Seaside Forum.

It’s official. Our month off is over. Ok, so February wasn’t exactly a month off, but it was our only month in the past year that we had a short break from weddings. We did enjoy our abundance of engagement sessions. We always love those as it’s a great time of getting to know new rad people. However, this past Saturday put us back into the swing of weddings as Don & Katie tied the knot. It felt great to celebrate with them – cameras in hand. Oh, and we launched our new StudioBOOTH at their wedding too (website, facebook – and no you don’t have to be a wedding client to book it!). And we’re happy to say it was a huge hit! But today we are sharing with you our first wedding of 2012. Nate and Kimber celebrated their marriage at one of our favorite ocean venues, the Scripps Seaside Forum in La Jolla. We really admire this couple because they both serve in our military as pilots and successfully maintain their relationship from afar too much of the time while they are on deployment. Some times you come across people that you just click with only to realize that they live right down the street from you. Then you bump into them at the grocery store. You get to wave at them as you drive past their house. Then you shoot their engagement photos and have such a blast you completely loose track of time. You get sad because the sun is gone and you can’t shoot them anymore. But you are content because you go home with sore cheeks from smiling and laughing so much and amazing pictures to boot. Mark and Stephanie are that couple. We could have shot them all day. We are so extremely excited for their wedding day to get here.

Greg & Maegen. A Tahoe Mountain Wedding.

Greg and Maegen’s Tahoe wedding was epic. To start off, they chose to get married at the Ritz Carlton in Lake Tahoe, CA because they both share a love for downhill skiing – something Brett has in common with them! To continue, Maegen with her grate sense of style, planned a stellar whimsical mountain themed wedding. The use of twigs, glass balls, white fleece blankets, and baby’s breath flowers was unique, elegant and earthy all at the same time. To top all of that off, it was FREEZING cold to the point where I could not feel the tips of my fingers, but NO one cared because we were all so happy to be celebrating these two and their marriage. It was such a great party with great dancing, some Studio Booth awesomeness and some very fun entertainment by the Father of the Bride and his pals. It was truly a day to remember. Greg and Maegen – We adore you. You are amazing people that we are so grateful to know you and call you friends. Your wedding was truly awesome and we will cherish it and our time with you.

Mike & Lindsay. Engagement & Wedding Sneak Peak

Happy rainy Monday everyone! We have been working like crazy this month not only because we started the year off with two fabulous weddings in January, but also because we’ve been working on lots of side projects. Re-branding has been a major project and we can’t wait to unveil our new brand REALLY Really soon. We are so excited to have our ‘brand’ catch up to us! We’ve also excitedly been preparing for the Bridal Bazaar this upcoming weekend (where we met so many wonderful couples that we got to work with last year) as well as some other fun side projects. Rich & Ashley’s Estancia La Jolla Wedding

I know it is only a couple of weeks into January, but this last Saturday we jump-started our wedding year early with the dynamic duo, Nate and Kimber. Their wedding was off-the-hook fabulous and you will definitely see them on our blog again, so remember their names. Sunday, we got to have a nice family day of rest, which helps us come to you today refreshed and excited to share with you these modern romantics – Rich and Ashley.

Where do we even begin to tell you about the sincere awesomeness of this couple? Rich and Ashley are genuine. In the two hours we spent with them during their engagement shoot, we knew we had made friends for life. They are caring. They are thoughtful. They are very well-traveled. They love each other with a pure love. Their wedding day was a perfect reflection of their unique character. There was emotion, a wonderful sense of peace and joy, beauty, and of course there was lots of love.
